Mac OS X Printer Sharing:

This is a tutorial that will show you how to share a printer to another Mac either through Ethernet, or Wireless. This is a very handy thing if you have more than one Mac in your household with only 1 printer. This will make it so anyone can print to that printer as long as the computer that printer is connected to is turned on.

1. Make sure the printer is working properly on the computer is connected to. If not, then there's no point in even trying to get it working through any type of network from another computer. To add a printer, see the first tutorial. If the printer is working, proceed to step 2.

2. On the computer that has the printer connected to it, click on the the Apple Menu in the top left and then click on System Preferences.

3. Under the Internet & Networking Category, look for a system preference called Sharing (Figure 1).

4. Under the Services tab, check the checkbox next to Printer sharing (Figure 2) and then click on the red dot in the top left of the window to close out System Preferences. You are now all setup for sharing the printer.

Troubleshooting:

-Make sure you have the Mac(s) connected to a network either wired (Ethernet) using a switch or router, or wirelessly.
-Make sure that both Macs have an IP Address (Network System Preference)
-Make sure the OS X Firewall is disabled (Sharing System Preference)
