So
which Mac is right for you? Well it depends on a couple of
things actually. The two main questions are, how much money
can you spend and what do you want to do with it?
For most consumers, there are a few choices to suit your
needs. If you're a first time Mac buyer and don't have a
lot of money, but do have a PC that you want to get rid of,
the MacMini is a great choice. Its Apple's lowest end Mac
that suits most consumer's needs just fine. There are 2
models to choose from. If you think you need something a
little bit higher end, and have the funds to do so, then
the iMac is the choice for you. It has many different
models to choose from, mainly separated by the screen size
and CPU speed. The iMac has more than enough power for
everyday use, and can even handle some higher end consumer
work like using Apple's iLife suite on a daily basis. The 2
higher end iMac models have enough everyday power to even
use with Final Cut Express and even Final Cut Pro. So with
the iMac, there's a lot of head room for basically any
consumer.
If you want to go portable, Apple offers the MacBook for
consumers. Its a stylish totally brand new notebook made
out of aluminum. It has a new LED backlit screen, different
from the old one and a totally new design. It, like the Mac
Mini and lower end iMac will handle basic everyday tasks
easily and is adequate for even use with the iLife suite on
a daily basis.
If you're a person who is constantly on the go and needs a
lightweight notebook, look no further than the MacBook Air.
Its less than 1" enclosure is made for frequent travelers.
Its durable aluminum enclosure, with a split of pro and
consumer features makes it great.
If you're a professional looking to either switch to the
Mac or just upgrade, then Apple's high end models both
desktop and notebook have really come to life. The Mac Pro
is Apple's highest end desktop computer. It can be
configured with either octal or quad processors for major
computation tasks dealing with math, science, graphics,
photography, etc. You name it, any Mac Pro configuration
can handle it with ease. The Mac Pro has two standard
configurations with tons of options that you can add on. So
if you should be able to get a MacPro any way you want it
built.
Professional portability your thing? Look no further than
the MacBook Pro. It has 3 models, 2 with the 15" and 1 with
the 17". All models feature the new Intel Core 2 Duo
processor. These are built for speed, but unlike the G5,
doesn't use a lot of power to do so, nor does it create
anywhere near the amount of heat the PPC G5 processor did.
You can choose between either glossy or matte LCD Panels at
no extra cost. Also the 17" now has an HD option. They all
have capability to run any software you could want to run.
This makes for a powerful portable notebook that you can
take anywhere. Its almost like a MacPro to go.
