Finder
Leopard presented a whole new finder with a
brand new UI looking similar to iTunes. Snow Leopard takes
those features and expands up on it. Apple has totally
re-written the Finder app in a technology called Cocoa and,
its 64-bit! Leopard's new Finder has some additional things
added to the sidebar. All network computers can
automatically show up in the sidebar and you can choose
right in that window what you want to do. There's even a
new function for Macs called screen sharing. If you press
that button and the other Mac has screen sharing setup, you
can view or take control of that Macs screen. Also added in
is smart folders which acts exactly like smart playlists in
iTunes. You can set a particular smart folder to
automatically add the document to it based on your set
criteria. If you make a change to that criteria, the smart
folder will automatically add and/or take away files based
on what you've changed. The Finder has also added a new
view called Cover Flow. Its just like Cover Flow in iTunes.
You can flip through all of your documents just as they
were albums in iTunes. You can view a picture, Keynote
presentation, Word Document, etc right from Cover Flow in
Finder. These are just some of the new features in the new
Finder.
