Aqua
Aqua is the interface you see throughout the
operating system and applications. It consists of a 3D
bubble interface you see on scroll bars, checkboxes,
general buttons, etc. It also is describes how the
appearance of the interface itself functions. It uses some
of the built-in graphics technologies to provide a clean,
yet elegant user experience.
Dashboard
Dashboard is a background application used to
display widgets. Widgets are small utilities used for
simple tasks.
Spotlight
Spotlight is Mac OS X’s instant search feature. The
technology uses metadata and can display search term
results from specific words in a PDF, Word document, iChat
chat session, name of a file, etc. It will instantly search
all items on your hard drive and display the results in a
simple list. Spotlight in Leopard is also capable of using
boolean searches for more accurate results.
Accessibility
Accessibility is a technology that allows use
of OS X for people with disabilities. It uses assistive
technologies and applications to aid users with various
disabilities such as hearing and vision. Voiceover was one
important technology updated in Mac OS 10.5 Leopard with
better streamlined voice reading and playback.
